Elyse Mallins

EMPLOYMENT LAWYER TORONTO

Elyse Mallins has worked relentlessly for clients in her civil litigation practice specializing in labour and employment, human rights and franchise law. Having gained substantial proficiency in advising both employers and employees on their most challenging legal concerns regarding the workplace, Elyse has extensive experience representing individual, corporate and not-for-profit clients both at the trial and appellate level.

Prior to joining Devry Smith Frank LLP (DSF) as a partner in the Employment and Labour Law Group, Elyse began her career at a large Bay Street firm representing some of Canada’s most important and high-profile businesses. Subsequently, she progressed in-house where she advised Canada’s largest private-sector employer on commonplace business and labour and employment matters and was responsible for more than 130,000 employees nationally.

As an employment lawyer, Elyse takes a practical and preventative approach to all matters arising out of the workplace. She provides advice and training to all levels of management as well as human resource professionals and labour relations specialists. Together with training and advocacy, Elyse assists in various risk management strategies like disability management, progressive discipline, wrongful or constructive dismissal, and mass terminations. She also audits orientation packages and policies as well as ensures that the clients have employment agreements and other agreements that protect their rights making sure both sides involved have enforceable agreements and policies.

In addition to the exceptional legal guidance, risk management, and business operations advice that Elyse provides to her clients, she is also a highly skilled and tenacious advocate, fighting for her client’s rights in mediations, arbitrations, and at trial at various levels of court. Her expertise is often sought out by employers in the area of Occupational Health and Safety and WSIB matters.

Elyse’s multi-faceted experience has allowed her to sit on both sides of the table in a workplace dispute: she has been both the client and the counsel and takes pride in imparting this knowledge within her talented team, thus providing outstanding and skillful legal representation.
