Marc Kemerer Marc is a lawyer with extensive experience in municipal, planning and development and environmental law. He joined the firm in February 2015. Marc obtained his B.A. (Hons.), from McGill University and his LL.B. from Queen’s University. He also has an M.Sc. from the London School of Economics. Marc was called to the Ontario Bar in 1995. Marc’s practice encompasses all aspects of land development and planning and municipal compliance. He represents developers, landowners, institutions, municipalities and individuals regarding large residential, condominium, commercial, retail, subdivision and aggregate developments. He also has considerable experience with respect to P3 projects, procurement, expropriation, heritage and development charges matters. Marc regularly attends before municipal councils, committees of adjustment, and the Ontario Municipal Board to obtain approvals for an official plan and zoning by-law amendments, subdivision and site plans and minor variances/consents. He represents clients before the courts, the Environmental Review Tribunal and other administrative Tribunals. His prior work in planning and development has been recognized by Novae Res Urbis as belonging to one of the top 15 planning and development law firms in the Greater Toronto Area. Marc writes and speaks frequently about municipal, planning and environmental law. Marc is a frequent contributor to publications such as Ontario Real Estate Law Developments and a regular speaker at conferences offered by The Ontario Bar Association, Federated Press and The Canadian Environmental Conference. He has taught courses in Municipal and Planning Law at Conestoga College and a course in Development Law at Ryerson University. Marc is a member of: Law Society of Ontario, Canadian Bar Association, IMLA (International Municipal Lawyers Association), ONEIA (Ontario Environment Industry Association) and AWMA (Air and Waste Management Association). David S. White David is the head of DSF’s Planning and Development law group. He is an experienced senior legal practitioner having practiced in the areas of Land Development, Land Use Planning and Aggregate Resource matters for over 30 years. Lawrence Hansen Acting for individuals, corporations and institutions, Lawrence Hansen has a highly varied commercial litigation practice which includes dealing with commercial disputes, business and employee fraud, the enforcement of judgments, debt recovery, contract disputes as well as litigation arising from commercial leases. Lawrence also has over ten years of experience with insurance-related matters, mostly but not exclusively for insurers, focusing on complex litigation matters, particularly those involving insurance fraud, coverage, title insurance, and allegations of bad faith. He has advised clients on difficult questions surrounding suspicious and potentially fraudulent claims, their investigation, the remedies available to clients, and high-risk arson claims. In addition, Lawrence has been retained to represent defendants in personal injury and product liability claims. From Canada’s Atlantic coast, Lawrence spent a year studying Spanish and living in South America and Mexico. He is a graduate of the University of New Brunswick (History), McGill University’s Faculty of Law, and has earned a Certificate in Conflict Management from the University of Windsor (Stitt Feld Handy). Adam V. Grossi Adam Grossi is a partner at Devry Smith Frank LLP (DSF). He is the head of the commercial real estate and development group at DSF. Adam represents a variety of clients within the construction and development industry, including developers, general contractors, subcontractors and suppliers. Adam’s practice is focused upon finding resolutions for the issues that affect those in the construction realm, including construction liens, breach of trust claims, bond claims, and constructions contracts. Adam is a member of the Toronto Construction Association and the Construction Law Section of the Ontario Bar Association.
