Alexandra Tratnik is a commercial litigator and partner of the firm. She obtained her Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies (Finance Specialization) from the University of Western Ontario in 2007 and her Juris Doctor from the University Of British Columbia Faculty Of Law in 2010. She was called to the Ontario bar in 2011 after articling here at Devry Smith Frank LLP.
Alexandra’s practice focuses primarily in the areas of secured and unsecured debt recovery, including mortgage remedies, as well as bankruptcy and insolvency and secured lending. She has represented Canadian chartered banks and other financial institutions, private lenders, businesses, commercial landlords, schools and a provincial securities commission. Alexandra has expertise in the most efficient and cost effective methods for recovering debts, both before and after judgment. She works with trustees, receivers and other professionals to secure the timely realization of secured assets and to maximize recovery on collection matters.
Alexandra has expertise in many areas of general litigation. She has acted for clients in matters involving contract disputes, real estate transactions, title insurance, fraudulent conveyances, shareholder disputes, commercial leasing and tenancy issues, land title errors, wrongful dismissal as well as human rights, harassment and discrimination in the workplace. Alexandra’s diverse legal practice has allowed her to develop an effective, efficient, and results-based approach to resolving legal issues for her clients.
Alexandra has experience with all aspects of the litigation process and frequently appears before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, including the Toronto Commercial Court and Toronto Bankruptcy Court, and has appeared before the Ontario Court of Appeal, the Small Claims Court and the Landlord and Tenant Board. She is a member of the Law Society of Ontario.
In her spare time, Alexandra is an avid world traveller and a dedicated Toronto Maple Leafs Fan.
