David Derfel is a partner at Devry Smith Frank LLP who practices in the firm’s estate litigation group He was called to the Bar in Ontario in 2002 after completing law school at the University of Windsor. David also possesses a honours commerce degree from York University.
David has broad experience in many areas of law. This allows him to identify and appreciate the complex nature of a dispute and help navigate his clients to the best possible outcome. David’s compassionate and practical approach is helpful for clients who are often overwhelmed by the loss of a loved one and the disputes that follow.
David has also been a presenter on legal issues in hospitals and to other professionals on a variety of matters. David has represented clients in jury and non-jury trials in the Superior Court of Justice and before administrative tribunals including the Financial Services Commission of Ontario, the Licence Appeal Tribunal, and the CPP Appeals Tribunal.
David is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Ontario Trial Law Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Florida Justice Association.
