Nick Lavkulik is a mediator at Devry Smith & Frank LLP who primarily works in personal injury, insurance, and general civil litigation. Over the last seven years, Nick has worked on both the interpersonal and transactional sides of legal services. While completing a year-long ADR Graduate Certificate at Humber College, he mediated Small Claims Court matters through TNG Community House. He later earned a JD MBA from the University of San Francisco, serving clients ranging from unicorn startups to Fortune 500 companies at a leading American law firm. Nick also earned a mediation intensive certificate from Harvard Law School’s Program on Negotiation. Now, Nick maintains his own mediation practice and provides court-connected mediation services as an appointed mediator on Ontario’s Mandatory Mediation Roster, informed by training and mentorship from Devry Smith Frank LLP to Harvard Law.
This unique perspective, rooted in both legal and ADR tradition, allows Nick to see the forest through the trees and keep mediations on track to get the job done, neutrally – good deal, case settled, and file closed. Taking a straightforward approach, he works with parties to get perspectives across the table in a way that is credible, collaborative, and persuasive. Services are offered at the Prescribed Roster Rate. Co-mediations are also available with his father, seasoned Ontario mediator David Lavkulik, on Roster Rate–Friendly Tuesdays.
Outside of his professional career in law, Nick is an internationally awarded guitarist who has studied with some of the top jazz musicians in the world, including GRAMMY nominees, JUNO recipients, and unsung innovators. During his Music Performance degree at the University of Toronto, Nick developed a rigorous creative discipline that informs his legal and business practice as a mediator, bringing a personal and practical approach to resolving cases.
